Akhanda (Sanskrit) means whole, entire and indivisible.  In this style we will practice meditation, mantra, pranayam, asana and relaxation.  Each class is unique I use my intuition to guide me to being you a class that brings harmony and balance to our lives.

I try to blend sequences that will work on the directional movements of the spine.

Akhanda Yoga

We think of the yoga system as being a vast, whole tradition that evolved into many different streams, like Vedanta, Tantra, and Samkhya; different paths, like Bhakti, Karma and Jnana; and aspects of practice like asana, pranayama and mantra.  In a holistic class we use themes to weave various aspect of yoga theory and practice together into a tapestry that offers students a powerful experience, and an experiential toolkit for their journey.

Asana - Postures
Flowing movements to assist your body in becoming balanced and aligned.  You will feel the benefits of all postures, your internal organs will be stimulated and you will feel refreshed and at ease.

You will need to ensure that you look after yourself in all postures and only do the things that feel right for you.

Pranayama - Breathing Techniques
You will learn how to control your breathing, you will learn how to maintain postures for longer using different breathing techniques which will assist.

Meditation
Classes will include some meditation, this will help reduce everyday stresses of life.

Chanting
When we chant we change the vibrational frequency, which helps to prepare for practice.
“Yoga is for the cultivation of the silence of the mind”

Kundalini Yoga

Saturday Mornings
9:30am - 10:45am

Kundalini means awareness, it is the active interaction of you as a finite individual identity with you as an infinite potential identity.

Kundalini Yoga comes from a legacy, and has been delivered to us by The Golden Chain, the ongoing lineage of teacher to student. Some of the important teachers in this chain are Guru Ram Dass and Yogi Bhajan.

Kundalini Yoga

"Kundalini Yoga is the science to unite the finite with Infinity, and it's the art to experience Infinity in the finite." - Yogi Bhajan

“Raaj Yog is that state in which you are a king of earth and heaven, both, and that is what Sikh Dharma is. That is the yoga of chardee kalaa, and that is what Kundalini Yoga is. And that is what Tantra Yoga is…. Raaj Yog is the basic philosophy, mentality and the dimension in which the mind and the dimension of the mind unite to achieve sovereignty of Godhood.”
-Yogi Bhajan, July 20, 1980.

Kundalini Yoga comes from a legacy, and has been delivered to us by The Golden Chain, the ongoing lineage of teacher to student. Some of the important teachers in this chain are Guru Ram Dass and Yogi Bhajan.

In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, bandhas, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

Kundalini yoga is a science of angles and triangles, it is technology to awaken consciousness or increase awareness in a balanced and controlled manner. It provides one with the tools to be confident and trustful in this awakening and empowerment process.  A typical Kundalini Yoga class comprises of Meditation, Mantra, Kriyas and Pranayama that when practiced raises the Kundalini energy within the individual. This raised energy is a divine union of the individual with the infinite universal consciousness; this results in recognising, understanding and expanding one’s awareness. This means achieving and living in your full potential by having a clearer thought process, the ability to listen clearly, the inner strength and stillness to endure and overcome the challenges of life, a heightened intuitive sense and a deeper understanding through compassion.
